Philadelphia

Did anybody notice that this movie was filmed in Philadelphia?

If so, did the location make any difference, good or otherwise?

I'm in Philadelphia and I enjoyed recognizing locations, like the record/CD shop and Eddie's Tattoo parlor.

On the whole it seemed to be just a generic urban setting. It's not like Ben Franklin appeared or Independence Hall or even Edgar Allen Poe's home.

I thought the diner was good. Everyone that has spent time in the NE has been in one of those fifties style diners. They all look so much alike. I used to travel and stop at one like that in PA off I-81 on the NY/PA border. It made me feel like I was sitting in the same room during the scene. Weird.

I only saw the trailer but I remember working patrol in the 35th and they filmed upstairs at NWDD (North West Detective Division). In between sets I met Khandi Alexander when I had a narcotics arrest and showed her what "crack" looked like.
She was amazed.
Nice woman.

The locale was great... for there's enough buildings to make for a great chase scene, but not that crowded NYC feel to make how private Young and Roth were at their two respective phone booths really work. Somebody brought up the diners, but the thing on the whole is it's big enough to support the story but small enough for the privacy required to advance the plot

Experience, though quite valuable, is something you only get just after you really need it.
