As Bill Hicks would say...

"Drink up, have fun, there is no death. Drink up, have fun, don't suffer, don't feel guilty. Drink up, have fun, don't feel guilty, don't suffer. There is no death, God loves you no matter what you do. You are the perfect holy child of God. And as my friend Johnny Pineapple would say: "Case..fncking..closed."

You're like a giant cock-blocking robot, like developed in a secret fncking government lab.

There is death. Consult any biologist and they'll confirm it for you.

There's no god, and it neither loves nor hates you. You're not a perfect holy child, nor are you sin-stained. You're a collection of atoms, the result of millions of years of evolution, and you're not immortal. All this bluster was nothing but empty feel-good Chopra-esque BS.

It's a joke Salter. Please get a sense of humor.

Could'a fooled me. It wasn't funny in the least.

I'm da bess, mayne - I deeed it.

reply

That's because it wasn't used in the original context of the joke.

And the fact that you don't comprehend what Bill means by 'There is no death' doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

I comprehend it quite clearly, thank you. It's the same kind of empty, feel-good, new-age pablum that sells books by the truckload for people like Chopra and de Bono.

I love it when people say "I comprehend it quite clearly" but clearly don't. Listen, Salter, I'm with you, there is death, in the biological sense, but if that's what you thought Bill Hicks was saying, then you clearly weren't comprehending it.

actually it's you who don't understand.

salter and i are fully comprehending what hicks was getting at. i can't speak for salter, but i simply disagree with such simple minded, hippie-esque, empty platitudes. it's a nice way not having to deal with reality, but basically it is nothing more than esoterik escapism.
