Does this series ever feature a story based on the book with a pilot crashed in the desert?

Yes, it does. I actually just picked up the DVD with that episode on it. Seeing these episodes sure bring back memories!

Did they make a joke about having sandwiches which were then sand-wiches? That one bit has stuck in my memory!

omg i was about to write the same thing i think i had it on tape when i was a kid and i wanna see it. He is looking for water and keeps seeing in but its just his imagination and the sandwiches get sand in them
