A political observation

A drama by a 17th century advocate of Calvinism (which divided humanity into the damned and the elect); a film directed by a quasi-Stalinist; a screenplay written by a former anti-Stalinist Marxist; and a soundtrack written and performed by self-styled anarchists. Just an observation, really.

Great film, by the way.

All those things added together = An outstanding and extremely underappreciated film, one of the best of its time. Even if they all disagreed on stuff (which they probably didn't), they're all bound to be great thinkers and intellectuals, which would equal great things.

Believe me, Alex Cox and Chumbawamba are neither 'great thinkers' nor 'intellectuals'.
