Tim Matheson as Pontius Pilate?????

Tim Matheson is one of my favorite character actors but he was rather miscast. Seeing him in a toga again had me thinking he was going to show his cucumber to Mary Magdelene...........

This movie was obviously a joke or a spoof. It just can't be serious. I mean come on. Tim Matheson as Pilate? The dialogue was a joke too. This movie had to be a spoof.

Pontius Pilate was OK. At least he looked the part. It was quite funny to see how the wife came up with all the bright ideas.

Just en passant: Jesus you couldn't take seriously. Caiaphas was OK. But Judas's acting was really convincing. The dialogue, except for one or two thought-provoking moments, was weak. The music was so-so, except in the ending, when it was good. The plot wasn't convincing and they skipped some crucial parts, although bringing out the tension between Jesus and Judas as the central theme of the movie was a strong move. However, this happened at the cost of reducing the significance and importance of Jesus and his message in the whole story. Not much else to write about though.
