Foaming at the mouth

I just finished watching this movie and I have to say I loved it. But I don't understand why Tok foamed at the mouth when he saw flashing lights? Is it a disease? Someone please help me figure this out.

Thanks

He suffered from photosensitive epilepsy...

I only just thought of this, it's weird that he was such a big fan of Metal Slug since TV's trigger seizures, and video games do as well, which is why all games come with warnings now... I guess he never actually says he plays it, he just based the warehouse set up on it... whatever... to me that would equal a fan...

In order for epilepsy of that form to be affected by TV screens, the sufferer would have to be severely afflicted and stare very closely at the screen. Granted, in the movie he seems to have quite a sensitive disposition, but he could lessen the dangers by keeping a distance from the set.

The flickering of strip lights as they fill your vision, whizzing trains only inches from your nose and hundreds of fireworks exploding around you are all far more likely to trigger an attack (although it would have taken some skill not to slump below the passing train).

I think Tok has a death wish, knowing himself to be epileptic, he chooses a firework warehouse to be the final shoot out location...

Not so much a death wish, as he thinks he's invincible. I liked Tok's style, but I'm glad that O won in the end.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed, would have loved the girl to go off with Tok! Great film though either way, Andy Lau slick as ever.

I think someone mentioned it up there. He has a medical condition that's triggers him to foam at the mouth.

I just finished watching this movie also. I too loved it. The ending I saw had O killing Tok and running away with Chin. I was sorta glad he got the girl and lived. Tok was a little too showy. I wanted O to kiss Chin when they were in the train, oh well. Awesome movie.

How cool of you to pick up on that. Lol. I saw Chunking Express along time ago and loved his character in the movie and then recently sorta rediscovered him as actor, when I watched the Infernal trilogy, and In the Mood for Love recently. I wish I had more acess to HK movies so I could watch more TLCW and Andy Lau movies as well new and older HK that they don't star in.

Easy to pick up on if you know your Tony Leung :) Not sure where you're based, but I'm in Europe and I've recently discovered a great source of Hong Kong and other Asian stuff that's hard to get here. Will send you a private message as I don't want to keep advertising vendors here.

Haha, agreed. Same goes for Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung for me...

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it...
