There will never be a good adaptaion of DX

Nobody would produce this :
Deus Ex has a political plot that speaks about secessionism, global conspiracy, population control, etc. nobody in hollywood would now produce a film with such themes.
A good film based on dx would have some action scenes but would be a sci-fi political movie. and with themes that are totally against the good way of thinking of our global capitalist society. how could american investors produce a film in which the hero joins a terrorist secessionist faction, in which the homeland security can be seen as the bad guys.
This film would imply an enourmous budget (scenery, CGI) which means no independent production.
an european production would have very bad reviews by american medias they'd be like "this is how you see our country ? we'll boycott your movie". commercial failure.
a solution : do an action movie and remove all subversive scenaristic elements : it would suck.
or move the american part of the plot to another place in the world : it would lost a big part of its interests, the symbols (like the beheaded liberty statue, the secessionists, all the existing or imaginary American agencies, etc) are too strong images to be replaced by european/asian equivalents.
other possibility : emphasize a lot on the dystopian situation. but it would lose its credibility.

I don't think it would be completely impossible to have private funding from separate sources, and I do not completely agree with the need for a big budget, as I don't see it that much as a movie that has to rely on heavy use of CGI. Creating visuals of an atmospheric dystopian future should not be that big of a problem, as the world hasn't become too futuristic. Also there should be somewhat of a minimalistic approach, not have it action-packed, but rather rely on great performances and dialogue, as well as the overall atmosphere. Besides, if the movie was made in Europe, the fact that it is based on an American video game would probably be picked up quite fast.

Yeah I can see it being done, by someone with vision and patience. CGI doesn't have to be had too much of, or be too expensive. Jurassic Park's 17 years old, that grade-A stuff has to be a little cheaper by now. Who cares about what people think of your movie? If you're an artist, you should know better than that. You don't need Star Wars budgets and brainless action to make a good movie. This movie could do to movies what Shadow of the Colossus could have done to the PS2.

In the end, Okonkwo threw the Cat.

"I've often thought it's very ironic that I'm able to do all this and yet what am I on? I'm on networks. I'm distributed by studios that are owned by large corporate entities. Now, why would they put me out there when I am opposed to everything that they stand for? And I spend my time on their dime opposing what they believe in. Well, it's because they don't believe in anything. They put me on there because they know that there's millions of people that want to see my film or watch the TV show, and so they're gonna make money. And I've been able to get my stuff out there because I'm driving my truck through this incredible flaw in capitalism, the greed flaw. The thing that says that the rich man will sell you the rope to hang himself with if he thinks he make can a buck off it. And they also believe that when people watch my stuff, or maybe watch this film, or whatever, they think that, you know, they'll watch this and they won't do anything because we've done such a good job of numbing their minds and dumbing them down, you know. People aren't gonna leave the couch and go an do something political. They're convinced of that." - Michael Moore in The Corporation

Getting investors on board isn't a problem as long as you can convince them they'll make a good return on their investment.

Plus the American right-wing is feeling very anti-government right now with a Democrat in the White House and, as we all know, only conservatives are allowed to be both patriotic and anti-government simultaneously.

Best adaption would have some key elements of deus ex and would not claim any relation to the original game. Kind of movie that would surprise you by looking lot like deus ex, those are the best game to movie adaptions anyway. Matrix for one already is great deus ex adaption.

That would seriously upset the fan base.
I say that DX is an excellent game. One of the best game of all time.

Let's just leave it as that.
