Deus Ex Resurrection Petition - Who needs one anymore?

Greetings all.

Some time ago, I wrote an online petition calling for the development and release of a third Deus Ex game. Signature growth was slow, increasing gradually over time to the point we are at today -- around 800 signatures.

I would like to sincerely-thank everybody who signed the petition, for never giving up on the idea of Deus Ex III.

In May of this year (May, 2007), the director of Eidos France, Patrick Melchior, announced, in a TV interview, that Eidos have their new Montreal studio working on the next Deus Ex game.

The article can be found at the following address...

No-one knows for sure whether our petition had anything to do with persuading Eidos to finally taking action, but one thing is for sure: there is an immense worldwide fan-base for Deus Ex. The voices of many (including those within Eidos), with the countless numbers of emails, signatures on multiple petitions, and constant chatter in forums, no-doubt all played a part in this game finally going into production.

The underlying fact here is an exciting one indeed; what we have all hoped and waited so long for, has finally become a reality.

Only a few questions can be asked right now...

Will they be able to pull it off this time?
Will they dumb it down for console, or, god forbid, make it only for console?

Let's hope they do the right thing.

Once again: thank you all.

Regards,

A 360 version could work, with achievements available for the different choices they make, but it needs to be more like DX than DX IW, I doubt that any game could hope to emulate DX, that was a classic that could only be done once, heck I can imagine Warren "it is just coincidence that his initials are the same as those of one of the primary antagonists of the first game" Spector in a church, saying something along the lines of

"Oh lord, grant me the power to make one game that will shake the foundations of the earth, a greater game than is possible by modern day technological standards, and in return I will throw in lots of references to you"

And from that DX was born.

Sadly it was only a one game deal, DX IW was WS' comeuppance for making an offer to a guy that could easily own us all if he wanted, he better get back to church and pray a lot more for DXIII to be the A and O of modern gaming, just so long as he does it after GOW 2 comes out

Worst thing that could possibly happen to the series. It will fail just as hard as IW did, because they WILL have console-centric development, the game WILL be over-simplified, and the controls WILL be sluggish.

reply

You ARE..............correct.

reply

No no, getting revived is certainly not the worst thing that could possibly happen to the series. Being left to rot is, in fact, the worst thing that could possibly happen to the series. Wait till there's more news or, god forbid, 'till the game is actually out to do your doomsayer routine :}

reply

Don't get your hopes up son, it's going to be terrible.

reply

Mmz, same reply as to the other doomsayer to you too :S

What they REALLY need to do is re-design and re-release the original with current graphics. I would honestly be more excited about that than the third, although I'd snap the third up the second it came out. It's a good series; hell, I even enjoyed IW, unlike most people apparently.

reply

I agree, that would be incredible. The graphics were incredible when it came out, at least to my standards, but re-releasing it would be orgasmic at worst.

there is going to be a deus ex 3! :D:D:D

They are making DX3, which has me very excited BUT...No Spector and a new development team. If they dumb it down and remove everything intelligent and adventurous in favor of universal ammo and so on I'll be pissed.

You don't spin a menorah.

NOBODY came back here after Human Revolution came out? lmao. Incredible game, BTW.

In the end, Okonkwo threw the Cat.

Conversations on IMDb can span months and sometimes years, depending on the users involved, but not always. I'd like to see one span decades.
