Finished Season 6 (Spoilers)

Finished Season 6 this weekend. Another great season in this strong TV-Series. It was very satisfying to see Kavanaugh behind bars. But at the same time the series lost a big and strong player. I will miss his psycho-war with Vic.

There were some good and interesting plots as well. Wasn't excited about more Armenians at first....but got interesting enough.

Chiklis and Goggins are still acting great. It came as a surprise to me that Shane actually revealed killing Lem just like that. Starting to dislike Shane more and more. But also thanks to Goggins' great performance.

It was nice to see Ronnie stepping a bit up. And I enjoyed the quarrels between Dutchboy and Billings.

Azeveda and Vic teaming up was nice, but this won't last long I guess. But as long as Vic can delay his retirement that's fine with me. He still has some aces up his sleeve.

It will be interesting to watch the team breaking apart more and more. And surely Shane will have a big part in it. I wonder what Ronnie will do about it. So far he stays loyal to Vic....but until what point?

Biggest weakness / low of this season: Alex O'Loughlin (Kevin). He never fit in the Strike team (neither as an actor nor as a character). He just felt like a one-dimensional poster-boy....didn't add anything to me and never felt like a threat (to replace Vic). Could've worked as well without him at all.

Very much looking forward to the last few episodes.

Season 7 starts slow, but once it gets going, it doesn't slow down.

Slow how? There's more plot development by far in the premiere of S7 than in any other season premiere throughout the whole series. The Armenian mob vs Mexican cartel storyline could have easily lasted a whole season, but they had to rush through it within six episodes just to make as much time as possible for Vic vs Shane in the latter half of the season.

Ronnie really steps it up. He quickly became my favorite Strike Team member. It's like he'd just been waiting in the wings for five seasons and then finally got to step into the spot light.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

What is it with Goggins and his characters!?

Shane became so unlikeable at the end just the same as Boyd did in Justified's final season. Granted none of these characters were meant to be good role models full stop but for some reason a lot of people rooted for these characters only for them to become unlikeable towards the end.

I disagree that Shane was ever presented as likable, he was always presented as an arrogant, racist, misogynistic *beep* who wanted to be just like Vic. You just always have to factor in Walton Goggins likability lol.

Honestly though, a lot of people said Boyd became unlikable or a different character in the final season and i totally disagree. Boyd was always a ruthless killer, look at him in S4 and S5 especially. He never changed on that front. It was a combination of the sharp writing for the character and the actor's charm and charisma that just makes us forget that sometimes. It was the fact that he started out the season killing a fan favorite, who had outlived their purpose.

I wanted Shane to get his comeuppance with every fiber of my being, despite the fact that he was my favorite character. Boyd, on the other hand, i rooted for until the finale. Raylan is every bit as morally bent as Boyd, and Ava deserved a bullet by the end.

Season 6 was probably my least favorite season. Still an awesome one, but it felt more like a transitional season that was meant to fill in the gap between 5 and 7 than an individual story in itself. Plus, it had a lot of things I just didn't like: Shane's relationship with the Armenians being a re-do of the Antwon Mitchell storyline, Julien being placed on the Strike Team after only being a cop for three years, Kevin Hyatt's completely pointless character that came and went and added nothing in the process, a picture of Aceveda's oral rape actually being real after all and yet nothing interesting coming of it even after ending up in Vic's hands, the abrupt finale that did far less to pump me up for the final season than season five's finale did (season 6 was originally intended as the final season for those that don't know), etc.
