Personnally I think Walking With Beasts is better than Walking With Dinosaurs. Although they are both extremely good documentaries Walking With Beasts uses better CGI, has more suspenseful moments, and is more thrilling/entertaining.
Yeah, I think WWB is better then WWD. While it was easier to pick out 'CGI Mishaps' (ex., trunks going through tusks), that's understandable for one reason; hair. Plus, I thought the narration was more laid back, so it was enjoyed (sp?) a bit more. I agree with you, Eugene, WWB was way more suspenseful...and thrilling. But I just wished they had shown a bit more on the Andrewsarchus. Maybe they'll make a Special, like they did for WWD ("Chased by Dinosaurs").
------------------ I searched the entire world to find what I already have.
Yeah they should make something like that-they did for Walking With Dinosaurs, why not for Walking With Beasts. They also should of should more scenes with Andrewsarchus to honor the largest carnivorous land mammal. I would have liked to see Andrewsarchus kill a young brontothere.
Hmmm. Effects-wise, it's superior, and it features more interesting creatures because most of WWD's creatures were dinosaurs we had all known and loved since long before the series (but that's okay because it's just plain great to see dinosaurs represented like real animals in a documentary). However, WWB did have some annoying moments such as unnecessary slow-motion sequences (Matrix anyone?), that awful frozen shot of the entelodont and Hyaenodon in Land of Giants and some dodgy effects shots (giant ants, falling mammoths).
So I conclude that WWB has some elements that are superior to WWD, but also has its flaws.
War is simply the continuing of diplomacy through other means
WWb also, in my opinion, has better stories and more "alien" creatures. It is also more interesting. I'm not at all saying that WWD was bad, it right up there with WWB.
Personally, I think they are equals. Thy just display different creatures, and are both exciting, interesting and feature some of prehistory's most amazing or terrifying. I learned about the exitence of more prehistoric animals through WWB. But I have to give WWD points for kicking off my interest in prehistory off.
