Coincidence of names?

Has anyone else ever noticed that the surname (Temple) of the disabled hotelier in John Sayles' brilliant film is the same as that of Lionel Barrymore's character in "Key Largo?" Can this be a coincidence? Has anyone ever seen or heard Sayles mention this? I'm also struck by the fact that Kris Kristofferson, the evil sheriff in Sayles' "Lone Star," is named Wade, the same surname as the sheriff in Key Largo. Now that HAS to be a coincidence, doesn't it? Or maybe John Sayles is as big a John Huston fan as I am.

Not only that- but did anyone pick up on the fact that the housing development in the film was called "Exley Estates"? Are you aware that a writer named Fred Exley wrote a trilogy of memoirs, in the second of which, from the mid-70s, called "Notes From a Cold Island", he descried the way rampant development was ruining the samll Florida island he was living on?
