dialogue fireworks

one of Sayles's most sparkling efforts; just sit back and enjoy two hours of venomous/far-reaching wit, the film almost screams for a second viewing in order to catch up with the one-liners you miss (they fly past thick and fast).

It must have been an actor's dream-job: they all get to shine at one stage or another; I am thinking in particular about the crusty old dad, the golfers or the washed-up p*ss artist.

any other film of his you would recommend for his dialogue?
obviously, "Men With Guns" doesn't exactly have the same feeling...

I thought the movie had a lot of meaty roles for women older than 40. But when I think about it, the movie had good, juicy roles for almost all of the adults. Even the red haired waitress/bartender got to do more acting than typical.

It was nice to sit back and watch such talent show what acting's all about. I hope many of the younger generation were taking notes.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.
