The Soundtrack

I can't believe that nobody has given much mention to the soundtrack - the film is great fun but many of the scenes are given a real boost by Digweed & Muir's own productions or choice of tunes. One track in particular - Pole Folder & CP's "Apollo Vibes" is used very effectively on two different occasions during the safe-blowing scenes, and it's obvious from tracks like "Rikki's Theme" and "Gregory" that John & Nick spent a lot of time writing some great music for this film.
The clubbing scenes are excellent too, demonstrating that 'progressive house' does work on a dancefloor, and the movie itself does wonders for the 'clubbing' genre film, with some great set pieces and an impressive attention to detail.
Congratulations to the directors and crew on an original and fun movie, and an AMAZING soundtrack. It makes me proud that in the early nineties JD used to come in my pub in Kent, UK for a pint and a chat about the local 'rave scene' and now he's one of the biggest DJs in the world and is scoring major Hollywood movies. The boy done good.

If you ever want a soundtrack listing just go to Amazom.com and punch in the film and the soundtrack will be offered. Click on that and they usually list the sound track and you can listen to samples w/WMP or real One Player.

I too enjoyed the soundtrack. I'm a trance DJ, but occasionally spin Breaks and House. I waited thru the credits, which went by way too quickly, but I did manage to notice that most, if not all, were produced by Bedrock Records. I've quite a few of their Breaks label, Bedrock Breaks, on vinyl. I would also like a track listing if someone can cobble one up I would be most grateful.

I've been a fan of Digweed's stuff for awhile now. I likes me some good techno, and he spins good techno. I watched the movie last night and I thought it was really good, even though I hadn't heard of it before. I may pick up the soundtrack.

im trying to find out the name of the dance song that plays at th part in the film where seann william scott is standing still looking around the place while the camera slowly spins around him, if anyone know's could you let me know? thanks! Amazing film btw lol

reply

Digweed doesn't play what most in dance would call 'techno' - it's progressive house. Techno, or high tech soul, is the music pioneered by Black musicians in Detroit who go mostly unrecognised in the US. I'd recommend anything by the brilliant Jeff Mills whose film work has mostly been in Europe.

I usually group together many types of music together as Techno; Progressive, House, Trance, you know, all the stuff. I apologize for referring to Progressive House as Techno.

That being said, most of my collection of electronica comes from artists from outside the United States, most of them seem to hail from the United Kingdom.

reply

Techno originated from Holland actually.

reply

Close but it was Belgium !

reply

Techno originated in detroit but we, Belgians, have the best club ever (Fuse)

reply

Yeah, here in Oz I hear great things about Fuse!!! How long has that been going now? An impressive run I should think?

reply

My favorite is Red Record. Regardless of how much the DJ hated it, I loved it!

reply

i used to remember watching the movie back in the day when i was in deeply love with "progressive house", because I mean, that was the style that fit Bedrock right?

interesting soundtrack indeed.
