Where did the guy come from?

Ok where did the guy in the last scene where gregory and jin sun get arrested come from. Gregory walks in and sees a guy laying face down...who the hell is that??? Did jin sun beat him up and put him there. Who is that?? Just some random guy who decided to take a nap, or tripped and hit his head?? Who is that?

I'm actually surprised this doesn't get questioned more. Drives me nuts every time.

The 'body' was originally part of a... well, I wouldn't call it a 'sub-plot', but part of a concept that kind of got dropped. The idea was that Gregory would no doubt realize eventually that Ben was behind the scam, and even if he was in prison, being the leader of the gang, he'd be able to have Ben killed. So the idea was for Ben to make Gregory think that he was dead, and that Jin Sun killed him, making it look even more like Jin Sun was behind everything, pitting the two crime bosses against each other, while Ben got away scott-free. The 'body' was actually the trannie's sex doll dressed up in Ben's clothing.

Problem is (in my opinion), it didn't quite play as such. I wanted to just cut it out, but the way we shot that ending scene, there was no way to edit it out. Some people put it together, many others don't. It really should have been voiced as to what the purpose of it was. What we really should have had, was for someone, maybe Rikki, to come out and ask, "Isn't Gregory going to kill you when he realizes you did this?" and for Ben to respond, "Don't worry; I took care of it", and to cut to the doll. Not quite that on-the-nose, of course, but that basic idea.

Ok kewl. Yah I thought it might be the doll, because earlier in the film Gregory does take the time to give the doll a close look and the trannies say that they don't need him, becuase of the owner's involvement, but I wasnt sure. Thanks for clearin that up.

well, i'm sorry to say this but, if people couldn't tell that was the "blow-up doll" at the end of the movie, they need glasses (and i WEAR glasses)....my only question was WHY was the blow-up doll there, it just didn't seem to fit in in any way, so thanx for clearing that up.

btw, that scene in the kitchen, where rikki is relating the "gazelle" story, i loved the way they brought rikki forward while pushing ben into the background, neat technique there....kinda "hitchcock-virtigo-ian" (hmm, i think i just coined a new phrase <grin>)

I think everyone was aware that it was a dumby body (atleast I hope so), obviously the point of the question is why was it there, it's irrelevant if the body is real or fake, it being there holds no bearing what so ever to the actual plot and has no meaning at all.

The David? kewl!

Luckily I was watching it on DVD so I got to play it back several times, to finally get the point, which I'm glad matches what you just said.

I did get one additional impression, the make-up job on the doll looks exactly like some faces Dave Foley used to do in Kids in the Hall, coincidence?

That was the blowup doll with the huge hog that the Transvestites brought....

Wow, talk about different interpretations, Anamorphic. I totally didn't get the description you laid out above.

I didn't see the dummy at all until the last scene when the snake turned it over. I just thought that Gregory blamed Jin Sun for the heist since they are enemies. They were so blinded by hate for each other and the cops, they didn't notice Ben was no where to be seen.

I thought the "Don't worry; I took care of it" comment was the fact that Ben arranged for those two crews to get busted in place of his team. That was the point of cutting off the power so that the FBI guys would notice the explosions then go down to check it out and find the two bad guy crews. I figured the dummy was Ben's way at thumbing his nose at everyone. I didn't realize the dummy was a stand in for Ben.

I guess by the end, I still got the main point the film makers were trying to get across.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

snakes arent poisonous. Theyre venomous. poison is when you touch or consume something. venom is when it bites or injects you. So therefore, your go back to school line is kinda funny....even though im replying to this over three years later. lol.
