Best available version of SHAOLIN SOCCER

I am an American who loves Stephen Chow (but doesn't like soccer). I have not seen Shaolin Soccer, but Kung Fu Hustle is one of my favorite Asian films. I want to buy Shaolin Soccer, but I don't know where to buy the best version (it's got to be compatible with my Region [1], and it has to have English subtitles...and it can't be the Mirimax atrocity). Can someone help?

I got my copy in Boston's Chinatown. Where do you live? You may want to venture to whatever Chinatown is closest to you and talk to a clerk at a video store.

I thought that the DVD put out by Miramax had both an 89-minute crappy English-dubbed version and the 112-minute original version of the film (with English subtitles available)?

Or am I missing something?

The only other DVD I'm aware of of is the one put out by Universe, which I've never seen. The run time given for the version of Shaolin Soccer on that DVD is also given as 112 minutes.

Perhaps someone who is familiar with that particular disc could comment on the transfer quality?

I'm afraid I've only ever owned one Universe disc and can't recall offhand if Universe is known for doing decent transfers or not.

I got mine at a second hand shop where they sell old LP's and some dvd's. It's the Limited Special Edition which contains two DVD's. The first one has the film, bloopers, a featurette on the special affects and the making of. And the second one has a documentary on martial arts.

Considering that I only paid 5 euros for it, it was amazingly cheap!
