a piece of crap

nothing more to say

the end was silly but the build up was good... there are a lot of films that are much worse.

I agree. The ending made absolutely no sense. Aliens who walk around naked on a planet where water is everywhere, and water is like acid to them?

You're assuming that it was the water that was the problem. You seen a very small piece of information and assumed it was true in all cases and how you interpreted it was 100% correct. This is a problem people need to get over.

What do you mean?

Everyone seemed to have a sign. I think Bo's quirk about the water was her sign. She kept claiming there was something wrong with the water. It wasn't the water itself, it was something else. I really think there was something in their water that made it react in that fashion and not just the water itself. But ultimately it's just a guess but given how the film ended we really have nothing else to go on. The aliens left quickly, the guess was something may have chased them off. The only other thing we know is that they were defeated using some ancient technique in other areas of the world but we have no idea what it was.

So what we end with is a single alien outside of the technology his race brought during their assault on the planet. To claim that it was only water that did it to them is a bit thin but maybe M. Night was that short sighted but I'm guessing not. I know it sounds weak but we have a sample of one and some assumptions to make about it. Maybe how we interpret that single point of data is our own sign. I really can't say for sure.

No, it's the water. They say its the water.

It was the water.

reply

Where do they say it's the water? I don't recall this.

reply

It wasn't bad. I thought it was well acted and entertaining.

I hated this movie, so very very bad.

reply

I hated this movie too, 95% of the movie was just build up to what ended up being a very disappointing payoff.

And those kids, I wanted to slap them both in the face.

It's funny, when this first came out I went to see it in theaters and I really liked it. I think I saw it again on TV over the years and I still thought I liked it.

I watched it again just the other week - and I'm SO OVER this film. I suddenly realized I didn't like it and that it contains those distinctive "tics" that are typical of M. Night Shyamalan and which I've come to loathe as the years went on and his films became more risible.

I agree

That's why I don't bother with Tarantino films. He has a specific style to everything he does and if you aren't hip to that stylization it begins to wear after a while. I loved Reservoir Dogs when it came out, Kill Bill too... I think if I seen them today I'd probably kick myself for having wasted my time.
