45 page script how did he do it and make a film over 100 minutes

I'm a young filmmaker and would like to know how Rodriguez was able to do it

reply

The action scenes were probably one or two lines in the script...
plus he allowed ad-libbing throughout the shoot...

Clearly you've never read a script. Action scripts are just as long as any other genre. The rule of thumb is one page per minute of screen time. Scripts aren't just dialogue. Action description is a key part of them, whether it be high octane action or simple description of what a character is doing.

I assume that RR got away with a 45 page script because he didn't describe the action in much detail. You can do that sort of thing if you're the one directing.

But most scripts aren't written by the director, and even when they are they normally go into sufficient detail for the other departments to understand what's going to happen in the film (again with RR, he pretty much IS the other departments so...)

His first draft was 45 pages because he had very little time before he submitted it to the studio, The final shooting script was much longer. You'll find that IMDb trivia is sometimes inaccurate...
