The car accident scene was done poorly

We don't see the car crash into Latisha's son. Maybe the director felt it would have more of an impact, if we had seen it from Hank's point of view (where he has no idea what went on).

But nonetheless, I thought the son just broke his ankle or something to that effect. I can't help but think the scene could have been done better.

I'm not convinced he was hit by a car. I think she was beating on him again.

I didn't believe he was hit by a car either. I thought there may have been some abuse, or maybe she pushed the kid in front of sth .. I don't think it was an accident.

I felt the same way, She was incredibly Abusive to him over a candy bar, Instead of being nurturing and educating him on healthy living. She wallowed in anger and misery and unleashed it on the boy. I felt based on her behavior throughout the film that she killed her son, or pushed him into traffic. Hence the name of the film was "Monster's Ball" Well Balling is another word for *beep* And since both main characters display some rather unsavory traits it is quite possible the concept was that two poisonous minds find solace in one another.

He was hit by a car...just a scene or two before shows them walking down the road and shes getting on him for playing in the street instead of watching where he walks....he obviously was playing in the rain and got hit.....the previous scene would have no purpose otherwise

Rural roads without walking lanes or sidewalks are notorious for pedestrian fatalities. In fact they are so common in the South, they rarely even make the news.

Yes and it was very dark and wet. I believe it.
