Did Jeff show signs of asperger's in the movie?
There is high speculation that the real Dahmer had asperger's and I was wondering if any one thought he showed signs in the movie.
shareno he was portrayed as being obsessive, awkward, avoidant/addictive. i think the emphasis was on how normal jeff's life was and how he made choices to not seek help and to press on with his ...obsessions regardless of ppl getting hurt (he knew that the ppl he was hurting had feelings/thoughts--he felt guilt for hurting them and the guilt he felt w/ a lot of things compounded into his alcoholism, constant lies, and furthered his sense of isolation).
it really didn't seem like he was on the autism spectrum in the film and i'm so glad they portrayed him the way they did tbh.
edit: also the real dahmer knew what he was doing/what he did was wrong as he was doing those things. he knew what caused pain/suffering and went ahead and chose to continue doing those things. he probably wasn't autistic.
I think this movie really related his inabilityto relate to people. He had autism, maybe. But he was also a psychopathic necrophiliac.
