Trent at one time what happen to that? Why didn't that work out for her?

In 1 episode, i think in the 3rd season, she pictured what her like would be like if she married trent and it wasnt pretty. Then she came out of her daydream and said "I think I just got over someting"
I dont think its mentioned after that cos jane meets tom soon after and we know what happened there...
Ummm...in season 3, Daria's crush on Trent started to ease. She imagined the future with him, and he was fat and balding and still trying to make it with Mystik Spiral, and she says, "I think I just got over something..." However, at the end of that episode, Trent acknowledges that his taste in women could improve and he voices the opinion, "Too bad you're not a couple of years older, eh? I could date you." He then leaves and Daria has another daydream, this time with a charming Trent, and she says "Damn," right before the credits roll. The season 3 finale (with the introduction of Tom) ends with Daria and Trent's conversation in the Pizza Place, where, um, they're talking about a project that he didn't follow through on for her, and absolutely not hinting at anything else.
Trent: I guess we have different ideas of what a commitment is.
Daria: I guess we do.
Trent: I guess it wasn't such a good idea for us to get together [pause]...on this
Daria: I guess it just wasn't meant to work out.
Trent: This really sucks. I always felt like you understood me.
Daria: I do, Trent, I do. [looks sad]
Trent: Goodbye, Daria. [kisses her on the cheek]
Daria: Goodbye, Trent. [he walks out of the pizza place, and Daria looks after him, sad, I guess, because things didn't work out.]
In the next season, Trent proves that he's attuned to emotions, especially when he notices the chemistry between Daria/Tom, which one can interpret to mean that he always knew that Daria liked him, but it's iffy. Their relationship is basically like the above conversation; everything and anything can be a double entendre and you don't know where you're supposed to give the characters credit.
Basically, they decided to be 'just friends.'
I would have preferred it if Daria ended up with Trent.
Tom's a great guy and would be better if he was real, but he's pretty boring. He's too perfect.
Well you never know how things can work out. The series ended with Daria & Jane as 18 year old HS grads. A lot can happen after 4 years of college which takes most people 6+ years to finish these days anyway. Trent would have to get his act together to have a chance with a college/career Daria, but you never know.
