Why the bad rating

I really liked this movie, why does it have such a bad rating?

reply

Because it was probably one of the most godawful movies ever made.

reply

Easily one of the worst films I've ever seen. Little research done as well. they keep talking about leaving Belfast to settle in Boston. The accents are all wrong. Its like people from Massachusets talking with a Tennessee accent. Why can't Hollywood ever get that right. Titanic was the same. They had the designer of the ship speaking with a broad "oirish" brogue. whereas he was a very educated man from the North. Its the stereotyping of all people from the British isles. They think all English speak like Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins"

I would actually consider purchasing a copy of this, as I saw it premier in Syracuse.

I would like to have it to point at and know what crap film is.

reply

Try moviesunlimited.com. They list it under "Vendetta"

reply

Sooo full of *beep* are you saying the accents were wrong because they aren't Belfast fresh they aren't Boston or they aren't 40 year Irish/ Boston/American or is it because they are. This was a small independent where the hell do you get "Hollywood" from this? To bring the Titantic into this and the millions and millions of dollars of budget, It's like saying that your house is *beep* cause it dosen't match up to the Taj Majahal. Ha! Lots of resentful script writers, directors, actors who wish that if they ever get a chance can come up with what Danny McCarthy did. Kudos!

reply

the accent was probably because it was filmed in saint john, new brunswick aka the middle of nowhere and they were probably taking on the local accent.....

reply

Theres no real accent to speak of in Saint John. Couldn't of influenced anybody.

reply

Well I was born and raised in Saint John, and everyone comments about how I have an American accent, so I strongly doubt it was local accents influencing the actors. Most likely it was simply a combination of bad acting and/or directing, especially when you concider the Acadamey Award winning film "Children of a Lesser God" was filmed here as well.

Having had attended premieres of this film in both L.A. and Boston... "People"
really like this movie too. Hundreds of people left the theatre moved, emotional and with tears in their eyes, in both cities. You are not alone or uninsightful. The negativity you may read is chockful of "Hollywoods'" particular brand of pseudo-informed resentment. There's an old saying that goes "Those who can't do teach, those who can't teach criticize." Pay attention to informed critiques that educate not merely slash and burn.
