Most annoying character?

I watch this some time ago and watched it again (i know, i know) just the other day and I had forgotten how annoying some of these characters are...
I don't know if it's 100% annoying character or maybe 50% bad acting, 50% annoying but here we go.

Mrs. Paley - i'm a non violent man but I would punched her before we left the first room. Where's my dog? not comic relief, not dementia, just annoying.
"do you know why your here?" "I was never very good at philosophy"...are you kidding me?! Her delivery sucks so bad.
Maybe i'm mad at the way she tried to act out the dementia/crazy....eh..I know characters are suppose to create an emotion or reaction from the viewer but my reaction was to reach for the remote whenever she spoke.

Sasha - annoying. Also bad acting, like she was reading off of note cards or something. Everytime she spoke I was rolling my eyes and I watched this by myself.

Jerry - was mildly entertaining then they chop him to bits...great idea.

I'm fine with annoying characters and I can see their place in a movie but to have all the characters annoying? Who are we rooting for here? I loved the idea of this movie but the damn annoying characters and bad acting killed it.

I think I identify with Simon the most, I would've gone ape-sh!t and starting stabbing people if I was stuck with that crowd too.

I know what your thinking...if your complaining then why watch it again?!
I'm a quantum mechanics/string(M)theory/parallel universe geek.

I didn't really find any of the characters that annoying, except maybe Simon. Annoying because they were all already in danger and he had to add to it by going psycho and murdering people left and right. Like seriously, you can't contain your insanity for even a few hours while we try to figure out how to get out of this quantum mechanical hypercube death trap???
I know the character was put there for the sake of adding more excitement, but I actually found his killing spree an annoying side track disturbance. I wish he would have been chopped into microscopical pieces by that 4-dimensional thing rather than Jeff.

And I think if you actually identify with Simon and if you actually feel the urge to punch senile ladies in the face... then... seek help. Fast.

They were all pretty bad.

Jerry, not Jeff ;-)

You're a loser. The only sensible (and realistic) character in that whole film was Simon. The rest appeared to be shallow one-dimensional boring characters.

Hama cheez ba-Beer behtar meshawad!

Sasha was annoying to me. For some reason, I found Mrs. Paley hilarious!

Gerry - his acting was too "overacty".

Everybody was infinitely annoying (Katie - the most), except Jerry and maybe Simon.

Victims, aren't we all?

Mrs.Paley was a poorly acted out part, very annoying as well.

The old woman was so annoying I wished she had suffered more before she died.

Sasha was very annoying. At the start of the movie she's incredibly self centered and you just want her to shut the hell up so the movie can get its bearings.

As the movie goes on, most the characters become very annoying and act very cliche.

I think Simon was the worst. Much like the cop in the first movie, he went from "so here's this dude" to raging maniac in about three seconds. His character has zero reason to be as violent and aggressive as he is. Just poor characters, but at least towards the end he got almost comical in his appreciation of just randomly stabbing people.

reply

Agreed.
Although in the original I thought the slip of Quentin (the cop) into psychosis was more gradual and plausible. It's also clear that he was hiding something, and it slowly got the best of him.
Whereas Simon just went from annoying guy to Knifey McStabby for no apparent reason. Also, if he really is a private investigator, how does he all of a sudden decide to murder the person he was hired to find?
The charm of the original was definitely lost here.

PLus Quentin only really started to act out when the doctor picked up on his issues and how he probably beats his kids etc. He clearly wants to and is used to getting things his way. The moment someone takes that from him he loses it. It seemed pretty plausible.

Koalas are telepathic. Plus, they control the weather.
