starring Overhead Mic

Was I the only one who saw that overhead mic appearing some 50 times throughout the movie ?
Could it be that happaned only to the copy I warched ( I live and watched it in Brazil ) , or is it that is just not something special in a movie so many folks found trashy ( I kinda liked it ) ?
I had never seen such a thing ( with the mic ) , very weird .

From what I hear, all, if not most, movies are shipped out to theaters with visible mics at the top, it's the theater's responsability to put the movie's top border at a position so those are not visible. I heard of this happening to a guy here in the states and this was the explanation that was given... hope this helps.

I've never heard that explanation. I think that the cameras capture the mic in scenes pretty often but generally it's taken care of in editing and production where they would either digitally remove it from the picture or crop the picture below the intruding mic. I saw an early copy of a movie once where mic cranes and stands and stuff was totally in the picture . . . like in the middle of the kitchen . . . but it was released to theater it was gone. I've noticed one or two movies where the mic appeared a lot in the theater but on DVD it was gone and the picture didn't look any smaller which makes me lean towards a digital solution.

All these are just assumptions but I'm fairly sure the theaters don't just put the top of the picture off the screen to avoid mic slips.

I took my son to see some Agent Cody Banks dreck, and the boom mike was onscreen throughout the whole movie. Somtimes with fancy shag carpeting windscreens too! It got to the point where I was more interested in the boom mikes' costume changes than the movie. This had to be some issue with the way the movie was framed by the projectionist right? Maybe it wasn't enlarged enough, or centered correctly, but surely this can't be a mistake by the studio. This was WAAAYYY too noticable. I'm going to ask a projectionist friend of mine next time I see him.
