JD had the baby and completely ruined the whole damn tone of the show. Is Elizabeth Banks the great sitcom killer? She brought 30 Rock down a few notches as Jack's wife and ruined Scrubs for me.

The writer's strike ruined the show more than anything else.

^^ This. Very much. They had it flowing along nicely and were looking to wrap it up when the strike killed most of season 7 and knocked it off the rails for the rest of the run.

Kim was just the worst. Hated that character.

I hated the character so much I actually refer to the show as either pre-Kim or post-Kim...Kim being the thing that ruined it. Now, to be sure, the entire season five the show definitely was getting "tired" (although a couple of the episodes are some of the series' best) but when Kim came along it just was never the same for me.

I've always thought that too, and still stand by it. It nose dives dramatically as soon as she arrives, there is no point to her character and she isn't funny. Elliot going into private practice is lame too.

Get on the scale son! Get off the scale.

I don't think it's her I think it's just that the timing of when the show took a turning point coincided with her presence

the fact is that they grew up and it was J.D.'s time to grow up
and as The Ataris sang, "being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up"

granted he was thrust to that point and it may have felt sudden but it was time

so him having a baby, around the time that his best friend and peer Turk was having his second is what really changed the tone

Now, if you said that you didn't like her because she omitted that she was carrying J.D.'s child still or because she is the reason why he moved away, which did end the whole thing then maybe I would understand but even then he's the one who wasn't in love with her anyway and resented her from the very beginning for getting pregnant after just one date and changing his whole life forever

Men should be a little less lax about who they date

I completely agree. She also ruined the show for me.
Actually, I was kind of disappointed at the moment the audience "discovers" that J.D. will have a baby with Kim.

Nah the writing became extremely cartoony and over the top from s3 that killed the show
