I just about fell out of my chair when I saw it was coming to DVD! It was such a GREAT SHOW that nobody saw cause CBS buried it on Friday nights. It's good to see people will have the chance to discover it all over again. I suppose if it lasted, we would never have her talk show. But I still say this is one of the best sitcoms to come around in a long, long time. Good, wholesome, classic, timeless comedy.

I only saw one episode during it's original run on CBS way back in 2001. I decided to get the box set because I can totally identify with leaving the big city and moving back home with family to a small town (I did it 2 years ago). And I just watched the first DVD today and LOVED it! Can't wait to watch the second one tomorrow! This was a great show that should've lasted longer!

I just rented a disc of the show and it's not bad but it kind of plays to Ellen's strenghs by allowing her to do her jokes. That being said, Jim Gaffigun is really under utitlized and played it super straight (at least in the episodes I saw). He was second to Ellen in the credits but barely used, I felt. I remember "Ellen" being a lot funnier but I would argue that it was slightly better than it was given credit for.

I just found this 18-episode box set at the library! I was thrilled!

My question is - in the pilot, where she goes back home for "Ellen Day" and to receive the Spread Your Wings award, there is an actress that comes up during the carnival and ties Ellen and her sister together for the 3-legged race.

I can't think of where I've seen her. Something recent, if not current...

And I had to look it up, but Ellen's sister is "New Christine" on "The New Adventures of Old Christine".

And the gym teacher/"love interest"!!! LOL!!! She was a cop in an episode of NCIS and had a thing for Gibbs! :)

I love the intertwining of TV show actors!
