Wonderful series

I loved the series Bickford. I suppose it was most appealing to the age group that Richard Dreyfuss portrayed. It was a wonderful series and I was so sorry to see it end.

why was it cancelled?

Low ratings primarily. Regrettably, some bonehead at CBS thought it would be a good idea to put it in the Sunday 8 p.m. timeslot, head to head with The Simpsons. Had they given it the timeslot it deserved, more viewers would undoubtedly have discovered it. Alas, now a really good program is lost.

I'm in my twenties and I enjoy the show. The reruns are on the Canadian Learning Television Channel. I like that it is being recognized for its educational prowess. Max was a great character and I would have loved to have had him as a prof.

aside: The actress who played Max's daughter is now Starbuck on the tv series Battlestar Galactic. She's excellent.

Totally agree.....100%

One of the few TV programs I looked forward to watching each week.

Was fortunate to have been able to see all episodes.

I think the time slot at 8 on Sunday night did have something to do with its demise.

Yeah, this was an excellent show. They aired it in the Netherlands a few years ago. I was surprised it only ran for such a short time. I enjoyed watching it and stayed up for it, as it aired late on Sundays. It had a 'real' feeling to it. Too bad it got cancelled. I loved Marcia Gay Harden in it, too.
