Whatever you think when you see a obese gal, that's what women think when they see a obese guy. Women are just more polite about (and accepting of) others' physical flaws than guys. Plus men dominate this industry, so it's clear that their perspectives are more weighted (pun intended)

Hey now, I'm a straight guy and watching fat dudes on TV is funny because a fat guy = humor. Plus the hot wife is a plus. You can't make humor with fat chicks because then all the fat chicks in the world get pissed off and get offended at HUMOR and go on Oprah (another fat chick) and bitch thus making the world a miserable place. That pretty much sums it up.

The George Lopez show is similar, too. He's not obese, but definitely hefty, whereas she is perfectly proportioned.

Carrie is with her dad. She also lacks a proper education what stucks her with blue collar guys.
Without her father (I think it was him who ruined her way to college) she would do much better.
But being plagued with a Spooner is one reason of the success - rating-wise.
I guess only George Costanza's father is worse.

Carrie + George.

PS: Doug is only fat, but not ugly. And she is trying to get him slimmer...maybe as slim as he was at the very beginning (albeit they showed same backflashes in which he wasn't, but they had to shot them with today-Doug).

Jim Belushi isn't fat. He's an average framed man. Same with most of the men in the shows listed by people here.

I guess the overly judgmental attitude expressed in the question shows why women who aren't rail thin don't get the shows. The viewers are too obsessed with watching "hot chicks."

Because it reflects real life. Think about it. You see a lot of huskier guys who might not have great bodies dating and marrying hot women with great bodies. But very rarely do you ever see a big girl with a really good looking in-shape guy. They are usually paired up with really heavy guys or REALLY REALLY skinny guys (which is weird)...

Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me, you.

fat guys with love handles and a high probability of type 2 diabetes and heart disease are not exactly the most attractive. and i always think it's funny when average guys think they deserve model hot women, but the dudes never go to the gym or stop eating snickers bars in an attempt to better themselves. all this is perpetuated by the fact that we as a society are much more forgiving of flaws in dudes than we are in chicks. which is again just an indication of whose perspective is most dominant and influential.

well the supermodel type body according to women is hot, according to men it isn't yet that's what women strive to be like so imo it's women doing it to themselves. also it's harder for a guy to have a stereotypical good body because for a guy they're supposed to be pretty built and it's much harder to build muscle than it is to lose weight.

anyway lots good looking guys end up with average looking girls so it's not like guys never hook up with the average girl (besides on this show cheryl really isn't any better looking than jim imo, she's a bit to skinny and he's a little chubby). most guys will probably end up with an average girl because most girls are average. maybe on tv it seems people are more lenient on guys but i think it's more equal in the reality. women can be just as picky, actually probably more picky than guys when it comes to looks of the person they're going out with.

Well, I have love handles, probably a few lbs overweight, yes. But I am in perfect health and I don't have diabetes or any other medical condition. Oh and by the way, I have very hot wife, she is 5'00" and weighs 100 lbs., and she's a Mom. I guess I do deserve a hottie, huh? I must have done something right!

the whole point is that she probably would prefer you in slightly better shape, but would be too polite to say as such or would feel bad for even thinking that. never said you didn't deserve someone who is in perfect shape, just that guys never seem to look at it from the lady's perspective... which you failed to do in everything you've said. anyway, this conversation is sort of going nowhere. later.

if you were able to snag a hottie then more power to you, nothing wrong with waking up to a beautiful woman everyday. as for guys never looking at it from the woman's persepective, well i go to the gym 5 days a week, lift 3/4 days a week, do cardio 2 days a week and i work as a storeman 3 days a week which also involves running around and a bit of lifting. i do want to look good for the gf/wife/whatever you're at with your girl but tbh i do it for myself more than the girlfriend.

Like an above posted stated, "art imitates life" or vice versa. In real life, you do see a lot huskier men with descent looking women. A theory is, with age and when you are in a comfortable relationship, you did to be less effort into your appearance, and not to be sexist but I think this happens to a lot of men.

On another note, I don't know why we're discussing this, because it's inside what counts the most....inward beauty is far more important than outward beauty. Hahaha, I'm so corny.

Fat husbands make it easy to use 'fat jokes'. If the situations were reversed and a husband called his wife fat as often as TV wives call their husbands fat, the outrage from the female community would be overwhelming.

For some reason it's okay for a wife to call her husband fat and it's funny. But if a husband dared call his TV wife fat for comedic reasons, women would boycott the show and cause such a stir in the press. Double standards.

And I hate to agree with the first responder, he's right. Though I would have used different words than "people don't want to look at fat chicks", people (both men and women) would rather look at pretty women as opposed to overweight women. I won't say that's a fact, because I don't have any stats or reports to back it up. It's just my opinion.

"My Wife and Kids" people...Tisha Campbell really got weird fat by season 2-3 (don't remember why and how, she wasn't preggers definitely), Damon Waynes still hot as hell!...so there..it got reversed :)

actually not so hot looking guys are with hot looking girls all the time. Many of my female friends are super hot looking and they are dating really ugly looking guys. some ended up marrying them.
