someone wrote on the imdb page : Goofs: Anachronisms: In the London based "Son Set" Episode: #1.11 - 17 January 2002 a British Intelligence Agent counts £53 in "Matt Callan's" (Gil Bellows) wallet. That is not possible as the Bank of England stopped issuing one pound notes in 1984.

This is not quite a goof as scotland still make £1 note so it is possible to have them in your wallet

Banks of scotland / the royal bank of scotland and the clydesdale bank still produced £1 notes until the mid ninties. all available in the UK
