*UPDATED* Why do you think season 6 sucks?

I'm currently in season 6 and I knew before it started that it is the worst season of 24. It has many flaws indeed. But... why do you think it sucks? Discuss!

UPDATED: Oct 4th, 2016

Sooo guys! I finished watching Season 6 last night... and I have to say that it's not as bad as people say. There's inanimity everywhere and by almost everyone that S6 is the absolute worst.

Well I didn't feel that. Yes it had many flaws, for example the awful plot twist with Jack's family being terrorists. LOL seriously?! Not only they came out of no where... but they're terrorists? Pretty lame. I translate this plotline as a desperate attempt by the writers to impress fans with this "jaw-dropping twist", but no.

Apart from this yes, the whole WW3 stuff were really repetitive, such as the whole consipiracy stuff between Lennox the Vice president etc. We've seen them lots of times before. Pretty meh.

Overall it was a cool season, not the worst IMO. Season 3 was the most boring one.

Also, one more thing that annoys me in 24, is the incredible amount of events that happen within an hour. Los Angeles is a huge city, and the characters jump from places to places in zero time. I mean really? That's the main thing that ruins the show the most. It would have been better if the show 12 eps instead of 24.UPDATE

I'll set the ball rolling.

1. The Bauer Family Mafia

Having Jacks brother and father be terrorists is just ridiculous, I'd love to know which bright spark came up with that idea. I don't buy it for one minute and neither should any fan of the show.

reply

Because after the first 4 episodes it was just a bad repeat of stories we had already seen done better in the earlier seasons.

I've got no future I can plan on past tomorrow

reply

Yeah, I didn't mind Season 6 as much as some people did, and still think it contains some of the show's greatest moments (first 4 episodes, Episode 17, Episode 24, etc.), but the 'Bauer Family' thing was pushing it a bit.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

Bad villains (slightly made up for by the awesome death scene of Fayed)
Jack's entire family
The Sandra Palmer/Walid plot that goes absolutely nowhere
Wasn't a fan of damaged Audrey (slightly made up for by the awesome Heller/Jack confrontation)
Pretty poor death scene for Curtis

I did really liked Mike Doyle, Assad, Morris, and Nadia though.

Season six was great. Loved Tom Lennox

The main thing is Jack's family being the main villains. Ridiculous. We never heard one thing about his family previously. Now all of a sudden they're not only evil, but they're responsible for the events of day 6 AND day 5? Absurd. The reveal of Graem being Jack's brother is laughably stupid.

Wayne Palmer being President was ridiculous.

Curtis, one of the best characters on the show, got a horrible death. And it was completely glossed over.

There were a few good things, such as Abu Fayed being a pretty bad ass villain, Morris being a cool addition, and Mike Doyle, but it no way makes up for the stupidityl

Season 6 was my least favorite season by far, but I still liked it a lot.
But it had its flaws- filling off Curtis, some of the plots after the first four episodes were a rehash of plots from previous seasons, they should have found a way to make the nuke threat last until the end of the season.
It's still better than most shows out there but it was the weakest 24 season easily.

reply

They were clearly out of ideas and repeated a ton of the shows old storylines. That, and it followed what many people say is the very best season of the show. There was a lot to like though, Tom Lennox is still one my FAVOURITE one season characters and I'd have loved to see him stay for the rest of the series. Mike Doyle was cool and Morris was a breath of fresh air, a character who pointed out the absurdity of the situation and injected some much needed humour in a show with too little of it.

The first four episode of season 6 are great.

And then what ruined the rest of the season is Jack Bauer's evil family. In the start you discover that Jack's brother is a terrorist that is responsible to what happened in day 5 and 6. I hated that, but I could live with that, and After a few episodes you find out that also his father is evil. This was to much ridiculous and stupid. they made his father a psychopath that doesn't care to kill his son or grandson. This was the worst mistake that the writers did in 24 by far. After I found out that his father is also evil there was a moment that I didn't want to watch any more 24, but because the show is still very interesting and this 24 I continued to watch it.

The plot with Fayed and the nukes is very good And I like that they have a character like morris that brings humor to the show. I also like Tom Lennox Character.

I actually did like powers booth in that season.

The main problem with Season 6 in my opinion was the lack of regular characters and I thought it was a mistake to kill off Curtis after they had already just killed off Tony (believed to be dead), Michelle and David Palmer in the previous season and written Kim off at the end of Season 3. It didn't feel like 24 without all the other characters in it and I would go as far to say 24 killing or writing off all their major characters except for Jack and Chloe was the main problem with the show. Kim should have stayed the full length of the show.

Kim should have stayed the full length of the show.

Oh, good god, no. Worst character of the show.

Am I the only one that thinks the Bauer family mafia was pretty wicked and bad ass lol?! It was over the top, yes but lets face it: the entire show is over the top LOL! It's not supposed to be a documentary, it's just a t.v. show and it's fiction. It amazes me people expect realism out of an action/suspense show, just sit back and enjoy the ride! 24 isn't anymore realistic than Die Hard which had some pretty ridiculous shit in those movies! In real life John McClane and Jack Bauer would've killed in their first installments if those things actually happened to them. Reality is stranger than fiction.

Also, having President Logan being a terrorist and behind the event's in Day 5 wasn't absurd or unrealistic? How is that any better than the Jack's dad being responsible for Day 6? Nobody seemed to have a problem with Logan being a terrorist(which is waaaaay more out there than a Bauer family crime syndicate!) and everyone embraced that. Sorry that doesn't connect and I think 24 fan boys are just prejudice against season 6 for some odd reason. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, it could've been better but not bad at all. 24 Legacy is the one that sucked!!

reply

Yeah I've said this for years now. Clearly you had the same thoughts.

Season 1 -3 you had your core cast of 24- Jack, Palmer, Tony, Michelle, Kim and lesser roles like Aaron, Mike, Nina, Sherry.

Seasons 4-5 they introduced a new core cast Chloe (technically S3 I know), Curtis, Bill, Audrey, Heller, Edgar, Logan.

However it was harder in Season 6-8 to form an emotional connection because the last three seasons they blew up that core and had a rotating cast every year so it had hard to attach to anyone
