reply

Yes, just like wide eyed blow up dolls! Why make naturally pretty 3 year old girls look like plastic freaks?

They look bizarre and unnatural.

Then they airbrush the pics so they really look like Village Of The Damned children.

Honey. aegrethairn. These parents are doing much more damage than that. They are making these children think that...that this fake overdone, bleach blonde, tons of make-up, hug hair, is what is beautiful! Not there natural beauty. These parents. Are monsters. I don't even know what goes through there minds? no clue!

aegrethairn is right.
Those of you who are bad mouthing pageants know nothing about them.
What these film makers want to show you are things that will shock you and surprise you. For some reason in this country people are drawn to the negative. Now THAT is sick. What you don't see is how millions of little girls every single year perform at dance recitals across this country in tons of make up, tiny costumes and performing suggestive dance moves. Or the thousands of cheerleaders at cheer competitions who are 4, 5, 6, 7 years old wear tiny uniforms and hair pieces with tons of hair spray and a ton of makeup. How are those any different? Why aren't some of you complaining about those hockey parents beating each other up on the ice in front of their children. Some of them even fighting coaches. Now that is bad for children to see.
What these documentaries don't show you is how most pageant winners do a ton of community service. Visiting other children in hospitals and collecting blankets for shelter animals, etc. What they don't show you is that these girls aren't wearing this makeup 24/7. What they don't show you are the little kids who ask their parents to enter them in pageants after seeing these documentaries. I saw more pushy parents at little league games then I've ever seen at pageants.

Have you watched "Painted Babies 2"? The where they are now? Those girls seem to be doing well and aren't preoccupied with image issues as some of you feel they'd be. People love to put down anything that some actually enjoy, pageants, gymnastics, ballet, cheerleading, etc. Oddly enough it's the female dominated activities and sports that get trashed yet you can find parents do a lot more harm in more male dominated activities.

Seriously people, start thinking for yourself instead of eating up what you're being told to think by media and societal influences.

Honestly, have you seen recent pictures from Leslie?

Gotta love that one fairly normal looking baby among all the doll-eyed over-shopped monstrosities.
