What was this film going to be?

Anyone know what direction it was headed before it was yanked from the director? Im just curious. Figured there'd be something in the trivia about it by now.

On a side note i enjoyed this movie well enough. Perfect?...no not hardly..but Im surprised everyones raggin on the acting like they are. Maybe its because i grew up with kids that acted just like these characters (hell alot of them still act this way sadly) but i think they were all on point. They were supposed to be portrayed that way.
