Very enjoyable film

I really enjoyed Cypher. Yes, it more than mirrored aspects of 1984, The Matrix, Equilibrium, James Bond, Equilibrium, Minority Report - but it did it well.
The scenery and cinematography were probably the strongest point but the acting for the most part was good to very good.
My only real complaint was the scene where the man comes out of a space ship looking capsule to meet with Morgan (in the middle of nowhere).
It just didn't fit with the more serious, dark tone of the movie - too much like a 60's sci-fi movie scene. They should have cut it out and devised another way of meeting him.
Besides that I enjoyed it a lot.

What a horrible movie! Total waste of time. I guess I shuldnt have trusted imdb rating. It seemed like an amateur movie to me.

I also surprisingly, enjoyed this film. Although, it did get a little predictable. My only major complaint was the ending after the Heli scene was a bit flat.

IMO, Jeremy Northam nailed his role as the brain-washed zombie type. He drove this film entirely on his own.

I think the Boise conference had to be the top scene in the movie. I couldn't imagine keeping a straight face through all that.

Anyone know what kind of budget this film had?

I really enjoyed some of the elevators scenes...mainly as Morgan is leaving and is escaping via the elevator but you're right, when he finds the base and the elevator pops out of the earth like a bullet...I just wasn't into it. Too cheesy. Perhaps something more discreet like a wooden door in the ground to a cellar which morgan has to climb into in the middle of the deserted area which leads down a flight of dark dusty stairs in a dank primitive cave until it reveals a solid silver door that opens into the shiny perfect elevator and Virgil's smiling face?
