I don't understand what was real and what wasn't.

I thought the movie was really well done, but I didn't understand a damn thing about it. Every 10 minutes, the story introduces another twist and the whole thing ends up being, "What do I really believe?"

Was Sebastian Rooks was actually Morgan Sullivan who put himself through all of this to erase his lover Rita from having an identity? Why was she so important?

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could explain the movie for me. I can't find a synopsis anywhere.

Just watched it last night. Northam was Rooks the whole time. He had himself purposefully brainwashed to believe he was Morgan Sullivan so he could infiltrate Digicorp. His girlfriend Lucy Liu was part of the plan. Once he thought he was Morgan Sullivan and Digicorp started brainwashing him to believe he was this other guy, Lucy/Rita intervened, stopped the brainwashing, sot that SunWay would hire him as a mole. All this so he could infiltrate Sunway and steal a disc that had a kill order for Lucy/Rita. He did it to protect her, but it got sketchy because it took him some time to remember that he was really Rooks. Hope that helps.
