Anyone seen 'Seconds' (1966) ?

Especially the first half of "Cypher" is rather reminiscent to this sadly underrated gem, directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Rock Hudson. That film also deals with erasing identities and drastically altering the former life style. Only it's not for industrial espionage, the offer this 'service' to people who're tired of their dull lives (a bit like Morgan Sullivan). They start by faking their deaths and then provide them with new looks and the choice of life they always dreamed of. The twist at the end is more amazing (and really disturbing) than the plot twists in "Cypher". I wonder if the writers of "Cypher" might haven been influenced a little by "Seconds". Even the set pieces seem to come straight out of that 60’s film, with loads of empty white rooms and eerie and seemingly endless corridors.
Definitely recommended in case you liked "Cypher". Also because it was very ahead of its time.

Gee they're good at playing dead, aren't they?

Haven't seen Cypher yet so I can't really say. But "Seconmds" is one of my favorite movies of all time. Such an intense, disturbing, and visually beautiful film. Too bad, despite its great DVD release, it's still pretty much an unknown film.

I'm just happy whenever somebody mentions it.
