Has anyone seen this film?

If you have seen this film, could you, please, take a moment and type up a brief summary of this film and post it here or send a personal message to me? I would greatly appreciate it!

Sorry to let this sit so long, dude--but I just came across your post while searching for info on another film. I live in Florida very near where this movie was filmed. At that time, I spoke with an antiques dealer (in the tiny town of Carabelle in the Gulf Panhandle region) who sold the set director or his/her buyer some items to 'dress' the sets used. As I was standing there, the lady who had purchased them drove up! She spoke to both of us about her set needs and the film itself. She felt Nunez was doing a fantastic film that would be even more popular then 'Ulee's Gold' and that Brolin and Wynters--as well as all the cast--were doing such great work the film HAD to have legs. I left wanting to see the movie and have been since. I still would!

But can you tell me anything on what this movie was about?

I would love to see it as I am a fan of Victor Nunez. Is it going direct to video? I can't figure out what happened to this film...remember Nunez made "Ulee's Gold", "Ruby in Paradise", "Flash of Green"...all good films. I've checked and haven't found a DVD of it anywhere.

In Australia there's a DVD available. Here's the URL....

Our local film society here in Tallahassee showed this film on two different
evenings (one showing each evening). It was a packed house (well, a small packed
house) at the Tallahassee Railroad Station (yes, that's where the film society
shows it's films!) It was directed by Victor Nunez who grew up here in Talla-
hassee, and still maintains a home (and studio?) over in the adjacent Jefferson
County. It was a small budget film making extensive use of locations in Wakulla
and Franklin Counties. It is basically the story of an ex-con (actor Timothy
Olyphant "Deadwood") who, no sooner than coming home to get reacquainted with
his somewhat distant father (actor Scott Wilson) than his world is turned up-
side down when his father is killed by an explosion (meant for him?) The rest of
the film deals with his recovering from the shock of this murder, his tentative
romance with a local girl, a brief tryst with a friend's wife, and how he gets
revenge on the local crime boss (the always excellent actor William Forsythe)
According to reviews in the local newspaper (The Tallahassee Democrat) Mr. Nunez
had trouble getting a distributor for the film after the 9.11.2001 tragedy,
although it was fairly well received at a film festival (Sundance?) It is just
now receiving the distribution and attention that it deserves. I would hope
that it will soon be released on DVD (High Definition DVD even better!) if has
not been already.

Please let us know when it IS released on DVD in the US. Thanks for the update, lee.

Sorry for the late response, I just noticed your post. It has already been released on DVD. I'm from the area (Tally) and enjoyed seeing spots that I frequent. It was interesting to see the oystermen wearing their white boots (Panacea Reeboks).

Thanks deb. I'm from Tally also--and anything filmed in this area interests me. Did you have to order the DVD or did you find it local?
