Who was the leader of the pirates, when Caesar was exiled at the beginning of the film?

shareThis is a really old thread, but the pirate leader is played by Ralph Brown, whom I recognized from his role as the effete snarky Prince John in the Arts and Entertainment Channel's miniseries "Ivanhoe" (1997). He was magnificent in the role, and even though the writers took some liberties with the story, it is well worth watching.
