Roseanne Copycat

Newbie viewer here and I've realized how much this series has copied Roseanne.
From the blatant (the series of still shots shown in between scenes) to actual lines.
Three kids (2 girls, 1 boy), the oldest daughter is married at 17, the middle daughter is an an angsty brat and the slutty aunt.
I am currently watching the one where the neighbor doesn't trust her son to be at Reba's and Reba has to go over there to "eat crow."
That is a direct story line from Roseanne; even some of the same lines!

It's a very funny series but I've realized how much they've swiped from Roseanne.

It's a great series; I've laughed a lot.

and the slutty aunt.

There is no aunt (slutty or otherwise) in Reba...  And a lot of sitcoms have 3 children.

That storyline you referenced did not originate with Roseanne. Watch some 50s sitcoms-and 60/70/80s. Classic situation comedy storyline.

I made a post a long time ago about how similar the characters are to the Roseanne series. Barbara Jean's role in the show is similar to that of Jackie, Cheyenne was just like Becky, Kyra and Darlene have the same personality, and Jake was just as obnoxious as DJ.

Yes, but Reba and her cast did it better. I wouldn't mind living next door to the Harts but I'd be terrified to live down the street from the Conners.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

I see one big distinction as the difference between lower socio-economic class and upper-middle.

The Conners scraped by, worked demeaning jobs they hated and still worried about paying the electric bill. They struggled to keep their cars running, they ate a lot of mac & cheese and dressed in K-Mart couture.

In the Reba episode when everyone was trying to scratch up a thousand dollars to send Kyra on a trip, I thought, "I see at least a thousand dollars worth of knick-knacks sitting around in your living room!"

In the end, Kyra didn't go because they gave the money to Cheyenne instead. Not very believable that five adults living in two big homes in Houston--with a rental condo, a dental practice and two stay-at-home wives--can't find a grand left on the credit card limit. If not, someone needs to be working the night shift at the Shop 'n Save.

I am a huge fan of Reba. I own all the seasons on dvd except season 1 which i did not care for. There are no similarities between Roseanne and Reba so your claim that Reba copied Roseanne is not only wrong but moronic. Reba is a single mother. Roseanne is married. Reba doesn't have her sister over 90% of the time. None of Roseanne's children got married or had children in the first season. Roseanne never had an ex husband or his mistress over all the time. The only similarity is two older girls and a younger brother. On Roseanne the two girls in reality were the same age but on Reba Cheyenne had quite a few years on Kyra. My two favourite characters on Reba were 1 Barbara Jean 2 Van. These two were comic geniuses and both great physical comedians and both had amazing comic timing. Roseanne never had a version of BJ and Van. In later seasons Mark moved in with Beck number 2 but he was more or less a moron and not really all that funny. Using scenes of the house and streets etc is hardly a basis to claim Reba copied Roseanne. Lamest post ever OP.

I find your lack of foreskin disturbing

There is one scene, after the actress who played Kyra came back after a long absence everyone kept saying to her "Where've you been?" Roseanne did the exact same thing when the original becky returned at the beginning of Season 8 of Roseanne with everyone saying the same line.

I always felt that the shows were similar except for the fact that the Conners lived in an average house and never seemed to have enough money.
Look at Reba's house in comparison!
