super huge house for a single mom

The title song explains that she is a survivor. Look at that house! She's surviving alright

The show always referred to how Reba got the house in the divorce (which surprised me, given that it didn't seem she had the income to pay for it, at least, not inially.) It is a good sized house--we know that each of the kids had their own rooms, plus the master bedroom, so four bedrooms there, and the bedrooms seemed pretty good sized. Plus a large kitchen with an eating area in it, a good sized dining room, a living room, and probably two full bathrooms on the second floor, and a half bath somewhere on the main level.

I wondered if she and Brock had either managed to make a huge down payment and keep their monthly mortgage payments low enough that she could manage it on her reduced household income, or if they'd been paying extra all along so that when the divorce happened, she might have been able to refinance and get her payments lowered, or if Brock was helping make the payments so his kids wouldn't have to move, or some combination of all three.

Do you really wonder about that? Lol.

I was always under the impression that Brock became financially strapped into the series because he was still paying Reba' mortgage and the mortgage on his condo.

Plus she did say she had 3 mortgages on the house during the IRS mess.

You can call me 'Mayor Chapstick.'

I tend to lean that way myself.

That was one of the things I liked about the series--Brock neither became a deadbeat father nor a dad who bought his kids junk in lieu of his time/to ease his guilty conscience. I thought it was pretty good of them to show divorced parents being able to keep things (mostly) grounded and on the same path regarding their kids. (Which isn't to say there weren't issues, but they worked through them pretty well.)

My mom, who was a single mom who struggled and has worked her butt off, can't stand this show! Especially how the song says, "A single mom, who works too hard...." My mom always says, when did Reba's character ever work too hard?
I think it is a funny show, but not realistic to most single moms.
I have friends who get good amounts of child support and alimony, and they still have to work. Reba went long time not working.
And don't get me started on Cheyenne and Van. They rarely had to take any responsibility for anything, even after having a child.

Reba became a dental assistant during the second season and a real estate dealer.

I'm sure Brock sent payments and that helped.

Well the theme song is a real Reba song called "I'm a Survivor." The original lyric goes "...a single mom who works two jobs..." I guess they just had to change it to something that kinda rhymed since Reba working two jobs (or any job for an extended period of time) was definitely not a part of the story.

Some just want see where they work also. Check any show or movie for the most part show where a character works
