Why the low rating?

WARNING.....MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW......

I thought this was a really good movie. Not perfect, but very entertainging. The acting was good and I was impressed with Mariah Carey, yet again. She is proving herself to be quite the actress. I think Melora Walters is a great actress. I usually like Mira Sorvino, and she was good here, but I don't think this was her best movie.
There were some very scary parts to this movie, especially if you have ever worked at a job where your superiors were unethical and you felt trapped; unable to say anything and unable to walk away. I don't know if there was a deleted scene but it was awkward how after the murder the night before, Meg and Kate were talking as if Meg had just told Kate that she was pissed that her boyfrined broke up with her...I would have expected a little more fear and trauma to be expressed considering what her bosses forced her to do. Wouldn't she be a complete mess? And how did the mob let Meg just walk away from something like that and expect her to not talk? I don't know if they made her cut the guy to pull her into their crime so she would not talk, but an alternative ending could have been that they would have done everything themselves after sending Meg home so she would not have been a witness. That was probably the major flaw of the movie. Also, I think there should have been more of a struggle between Meg and the guy who attacked her so her boss killing him in front of Meg would be more justified. Oh, and I felt that there could have been more undercover agents in the restaurant on the night of the sting or maybe Meg could not have been expected to go undercover so quickly? Just some thoughts.
I liked the surprise ending (I won't spoil that here) but it did seem unrealistic after the fact. Perhaps they could have met in a less public place? Overall, I really liked this movie. There were some plot holes but they didn't ruin the movie.

It was stated in trivia that the producer went the cable-DVD route because he could not find a distributor.
This movie, though entertaining enough, was not worthy of the "big screen". The acting was shallow, the plot was unimaginative and the ending was very predictable.

The script is terrible. Mira was very good but most of the acting from the other two leads was shoddy. Some parts of the film are hilariously absurd, why the hell would he make Sorvino cut up the body? She becomes a favourite of the Don because he was having chest pains from indigestion after eating and she advised him to use acid reflux pills... he couldn't think of this himself? Absurd. This was basically a low budget Hallmark movie with cursing.
