Yes I agree. After I read your reviews, I saw the movie myself. Mariah can act and she was almost as good as Mira. To be fair, I will recommend this movie to my friends who found her performance in Glitter laughable.

shareI don't think she was better than Mira but she was still very good, and I wish articles would reference this film rather than Glitter since it got some great reviews and Mariah is always complemented in the role for her acting ability.
Glitter was a mess of a film, with a bad script. I don't know many actors that could've done well with no structure or proper direction. If you read the history of the film or listen to the director's commentary you get to find out a bit more about it, but basically it would've made Julia Roberts look bad.

I'm watching this right now. And Im very much enjoying Mariah Carey's performance. The girl can act and hopefully she'll go on to star in more movies. Shell definitely prove people wrong.

I HATE Mariah Carey's music!! And I truly hated 'Glitter'!!!
But....I have to admit she was actually pretty good in WiseGirls. I rented this movie as a last option, and I ended up being entertained by this gangstermovie. The performances of the three actresses were good, the story had enough original touches to keep me preoccupied and, in terms of how it was shot and directed, it was clearly well made.
I agree that Mariah was thoroughly convincing in this film. Mira was fine as well as Melora Walters, who really had to play 2 parts essentially and did a great job. The first half of the movie was ok, the second half really picked up, and I didn't see some of the twists, although I did guess the ending. I think Mariah plays tough chick very well, and Mira is, well, always Mira (except in Mighty Aphrodite). Not a bad way to spend an hour and a half.
shareMariah was awesome in this movie. I thought she did a great job too and she stole every scene she was in. Whenever she's on the screen, she's the one you noticed or paid attention more. I also thought of her as Raychel while watching her throughout the movie not Mariah...so she was really good in this movie. Those people who didn't like this movie because of Mariah, that's their problem, lol. I loved this movie and everyone I know who has seen it...that's all that matters. People will always have different opinions, which is fine because they are intitled to it...but to each and her own 'cause in my opinion, she did very good in this movie. Mariah was convincing as Raychel. I love her character, lol. Raychel was just freakin' hilarious. I love her accent in this movie and her lines. I thought Raychel has the best lines. I like Mira and Melora too, but I thought Mariah was the best one in this movie.

I was really surprised as well. Mariah can definitely act and the accent was on. Great movie. Hope her upcoming movie, Tennesse, is as good as this one.
