Arctic?

I always thought that a Sabretooth Tiger was an arctic cat. That's why God supposedly gave them the fangs, to spear walruses (animals with a lot of fat that protects them). Anyone know? I thought it was a arctic cat.

I know you both posted ages ago and I really doubt either will ever look at this again. But Sabertooths may not have been arctic, but they were cats at least, not tigers, just massive cats.

Sabretooth tigers (sabretineuos tigreis, extinct) were native to the upper quadrant of the northern hemisphere, east of longitude 44w (artic). While the fangs did protrude from their jaw, they are nonetheless catorgorized as mamals, subcategory felines. (similar to tigers, but different as well). Primary food included fish, birds & small children. This film does a remarkable job at capturing the essence of this truly magnificent creature, both physically, instinctually & emotionally. It shows the prowess of a true hunter, a true athelete, a true animal- the sabretooth tiger.

Hundreds of them have been found in the LaBrea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.

They were native to what is now the American Southwest, through Central America and into South America.
