Reminded me of Theo Angelopolous ...

... The visual style and ruminating story where action is of no apparent consequence in the landscape of a country be it Greece or France. Unlike Angelopolous, Iosseliani's film is warm and funny where the Greek director's are harsh and cynical.

There is so much in Lundi Matin that it would require numerous watches before characters and activities are absorbed. I loved the rendering of French rural life and of Venice, which I had the recent pleasure to visit. The two places are set up as opposites, like the chemicals mentioned by the man's son earlier, but actually they cohere to show how similar are the lives of Vincent and Carlo.

Vincent's journey does make a difference; some reviewers suggest not. After seeing the final scene I watched the beginning where the same scene of daily routine was shown and there are small and important differences.

I'm not trying to break your heart,
I'm just trying hard not to fall apart
