Did I miss something?? Spoilers...

Ok, maybe I just looked away at a key moment, but I got very confused... lol
Amy's mom came to Diaene's house to take Amy somewhere and had to get her permission. Amy asked if she could come home when she got better and her mom said "I'm your mom, we belong together."
Then, I looked over and saw a car crash and Dianne yelling "AMY!"
Did I miss 2 seconds of a key plot element...or...? lol

PLEASE help because I'm very confused.

Thanks for that! I did miss that first part. I think I missed why Amy didn't go to the play with her mom... Isn't that why she went out to the house?
That's my last question. lol

When I originally saw it, Diane had asked Amy if she'd like to go to San Francisco to see a play. I know Amy was staying with Diane while Amy's mom got rehab for a drinking problem. Her mom's permission would have been required to take her someplace like that. The two scenes you describe didn't go together and the last time I saw it on TV, they had chopped out a bit in the middle. If you hadn't seen it with the part they cut, it wouldn't have made sense.
Love this movie!! Children with severe disabilities do need their natural parents.....if there is love. Diane's husband had no love for this little one because she wasn't a normal child, I guess. He had a very selfish love for his wife, also, not noticing or caring about her need to love her daughter. Dave was the blessing in the story....quiet, caring, and always there when needed. He really loved both Diane and her daughter. :)
