DVD image quality

I've read a review of the Canadian DVD of Demonlover (at www.dvdbeaver.com) which states it's a deplorable transfer. Any thoughts on the transfer of the US release? I've yet to purchase a copy as I'm waiting for the uncut DVD coming in June.

Carlooto, the current DVD release from Palm looks nice enough on my TV. I could detect subtle gradations of blue, which I recall from seeing it in the theater. However, there is no DTS audio track as originally advertised. The director's cut has been postponed until September, at earliest. There's more info about that in the "I Can't Wait..." thread.

Demonlover Region 4 (Brazil) DVD has the worst image I saw so far.

The US version I got from Netflix (don't know if it uncut or not) is horrid. It looks like a VHS to DVD transfer.

yeah, i got my DVD from netflix just now. and the image quality is horrendous. what's up with that?

reply

It's a digital film, made to look as "digital" possible.

I reckon it might be a PAL to NTSC conversion - the picture is really soft and smeary and the motion isn't right. I'd really like a Blu-ray upgrade of this.
