Who was 'Zora' at the end?

Was that Diane, or Elise?

And what happened after the car crash, in Mexico? ? Who died, and why didn't she run away? Or did she.

Yes the ending was a bit confusing
There are a lot of movies out like this now, just disjointed endings, but the movie itself was throughly enjoyable.

Yeah the porn scenes were a bit intense, especially since the advertising and reivews don't usually mention it (otherwise it would get censored and wont play )

As far as I know, I'm pretty sure it was Diane. Even though the car crashed the guy killed the two people Diane hit. Yeah I know what you mean she was just standing there and looking at the fire.

I think the ending with the kid taking his dad's CC and acessing the HELLFIRE CLUB site showed that the merger did take place and now the site was accessable to more people thereby making a ton of money for the company, and Diane was just another victim on the site.

As for the porn scenes, yeah they were pretty crazy even the Anime scenes were hardcore even with the mosaic tiles over the naughty parts. Sorta reminded me of a feardotcom/8mm with more depth dont ya think?

I just read something that said that there are two Dianes - one who is really working at the company and one who is the mole. i don't know that i buy that explanation. my impression was that the Chloe Sevigny character had found out what Diane was up to and set her up to be in one of the torture sights at the end. the end was confusing, but i thought the movie as a whole was incredible. really nothing else like it out there right now.

I'm pretty sure that it was Dianeand Elise takes her place of power--some kind of creature that eats itself / role reversal type of plot thingy, but, regarding the ending, the ending is a little American pre-teen who, while doing his souless science homework enjoys having Zora otrtured for background noise. This is the sad unambiguous end do a tasty film. Sad because it's cruel and cynical towards Americans. If the kid was jacking off while watching Zora being tortured then fine, then he's a human. Unfortunately American's by some European notions are now nothing more than a bunch of children burning insects with magnifying glasses, oblivious. other than that, I too found the movie really enjoyable and transporting and all the performances were on.

Part of this film is that the "character" of Zora isn't important. To most of the people who frequent the Hellfire Club sight, they don't care who Zora really is, just who they can make her be. To this point, Diane at the end of the film simply becomes the latest in a line of Zoras, a blank slate to be drawn into whatever the credit card holder wants.

Perhaps were led to believe that all of Diane's scheming and counter-scheming have led her to this fate. Maybe we, as a society that vorcaiously eats up porn such as this, are complicit in that fate. Perhaps it was inevitable. Or perhaps toward the end of the film, all logic and identity blur, and Diane herself no longer knows who she is or what her purpose is...even who we are led to believe Diane to be is revealed to be a fabrication.

This is certainly a film to watch numerous times, if only to see if you can get the plot straightened out. As for the intensity, it's to Assayas' credit that he doesn't linger on most of it. The hentai scenes are a little on the graphic side, but nothing shocking to anyone who's watched something like "Legend of the Overfiend". The S&M sequences, however, are quite intense if only because of the depths they descend to (torturing a woman shackled to an electrified bed is pretty down there in my opinion).

Stupid, unrelated question...but why would the kid steal his dad's credit card to get onto Hellsfire Club? That looked like a pretty weak porn site to me. I can understand if it was some screwed up 40-year old rapist guy, but that kid looked like a regular teen doing his homework. Realistically he'd be on Bang Bus or Milf Hunter or something like that ;)

I think that "Zora" name is just symbolic. During signing of the contract between company and Demonlover, it is said that most of the sites, like Hell Fire Club, comes from Russia. Therefore, "Zora" is the typical Slavic name, mostly used in Serbia. "Zora" means dawn or sunrise. After all, if they introduce every girl with same name, those who watch the "movies" goes desensitized so their imagination is more opened to be "creative" with torture.

How can a snuff site be weak? Maybe the kid was just precocious.
