Delightful Story!

I'm a sucker for well told feel good stories about the South which feature odd characters, and Miss Lily Jane Bobbit is certainly an odd and wonderful character, so it's no great surprise I simply loved Children on Their Birthdays and especially loved Tania Ramonde's richly painted character. I grew up in the South, so the story felt real enough to me, but I suspect Truman Capote lived in nicer neighborhoods than Tennesee Williams. I suspect anyone who loves a good story will enjoy this.

I also enjoyed this movie.

It seems a lot of people hate Tania's character but I like her. It's just funny how one thing can be hated and liked by anyone.

I suspect it's because people keep trying to apply some kind of universal standards to matters of purely personal taste. If they like something, everyone should like it. If they hate something, everyone should hate it too. Personally, I just don't get the lack of tolerance.

I found Tania's character oddly refreshing, charming in a very unique way, and someone I would actually enjoy meeting in real life.

Sorry to pop your bubble but the major part of this movie was filmed right up the street from my house in Aurora I.L! I'm not lieing! My brother and I would wacth them flim almost every day. They also were going to have Lily be run over by a bus in the end but they changed that :-)

She doesn't die in the end? Seems like a cop out to me!
I haven't seen the film, I did get a look at the trailer and while it does seem like, as the poser above described, "a good story", I think Capote would be rolling in his grave.

Having read the story I got the impression that the character of miss bobbit was meant to come off as irritating, bossy and condescending, and that her compassion for Rosalba and her dreams to escape to a better place were the only thing that redeems her in the readers eyes.
