One of the Corniest Parts in Movie History

I saw this on BET last night. But anyway, it was extremely corny when the main drug lords girlfriend went to the bar to give the cuban guys phone number to E Bone or whatever his name was. The dialouge went something like:

"The offer is good for only 24 hours."
"Wheres He goin?"
"Back to the sunshine state."
"Ah, Miami."

Hows the weather up there sweetheart?
Walkin on sunshine toke boy.

reply

Don't sound very corny to me...

I noticed that same thing!

reply

Well, Miami isnt a state and Miami isnt the only city in Florida.

Well Miami is close to Cuba and one of the biggest cities in Florida not mention it has little Havana. So I dont see how it was corny.

yeh well, its pretty obvious why he'd say miami, just assume he knows miami isnt a state, maybe miami sprung to his mind when he heared sunshine state, seeing as its the heart of florida...well in my eyes it is.
seeing also as he said 'ahh' before saying miami. I dont think he implied miami as being a state.

I don't know if that's the best example, but rest assured this flick is full of flat and corny dialogue probably courtesy of the "Black English Slang Dictionary" in heavy rotation for 1980s street crime movies.

Don't believe me? Check out this movie and find for yourself.

I live in Miami and I know that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Miami is a drug capital, if not the drug capital of Florida.

reply

exactly, if someone from the sunshine state comes all the way to boston, for drug buisness. I would say that guy is a big hitter, and Miami is where the big hitter is.

Yeah,it makes more sense then him saying,"Ah, Pensacola." or "Ah, Tallahassee."

"That's it, I'm done." - Jim Young

I agree 100%. In fact this was one poor effort over all. Actually the actors likely did as good a job as they could with what was a terrible script and direction that appeared practically non-existent. I can only explain the better reviews and comments by observing once again that many people's taste is in their posterior.

But what do I know. I'm just a girl.
