The lead Character was a prick

I loved the movie. That aside, I must mention it was hard to feel any compassion for Xavier because he was a prick.

The one man that shows him friendship and compassion from the start, by giving him a place to stay, gets stabbed in the back by him. It may not have been so bad if the young wife was coming on to Xavier, and he just couldn't resist, but she only falls in love with him, after he almost rapes her.

Then, I'm supposed to feel sorry for the little prick when his girlfriend dumps him.

All my problems with the movie are centered around the lead actor and character.

He was too old for the part.
He was too homely for the part.
His character was a prick.

On the positive side, everything else about this flick was brilliant, especially the Director's attention to detail. It was a great ride and very educational to boot.
