Soledad the sexy and beautiful SPainsh girl... Agree?

Hey, anyone out there thinks the spanish girl Soledad was hot in the movie?

reply

Doesnt Soledad mean loneliness?

reply

Becuse,it´s the character name.
It´s usual in Spain have names such as: Soledad (loneliness), Rocio(Dew),Pilar(Post), Alba( dawn), Concha(shell),Mar(sea), Marina(navy), Rosa(rose),Margarita(daisy), Milagros( miracles), Ángel(angel, but it´s boy name).....
When I translate it sound hideous, but sometime there are a Virgin with this name, other times it´s tradition, and many times thoughtlessness of fathers.
(The name of my sister is Azucena: white lily or Madonna lily)

reply

No creo que la traducción Marina sea "navy", ¿eh? Más bien un derivado de "mar", je je. Anyway some names are cute, such as Soledad, Alba, Azahara (from "azahar", orange blossom), etc., but some names are plain awful, such as Dolores (who wants to be called "pains"???), Sagrario (side chapel), Tránsito (passing or death), Concepción (no need to translate this one, I think), Mari Cruz (Mary of the Cross +/-), etc., and more typical Catholic names (and I don't mean they're bad because they're catholic, but I've have to say that most catholic names are ridiculous)

reply

Ya, no creo que la traducción más exacta sea "navy"¿PERO COMO LO TRADUCES!!?. 8-P)
Other examples:
Rosario(rosary)
Encina( holm oak)[Virgen de la Encina: The Holm Oak Virgin]
Encarnación ( incarnation)
Purificación ( purification)
Olvido(oblivion or oversight)
Inmaculada (Immaculate) the other part of Concepción (Inmaculada Concepción: Immaculate Conception)
Natividad(nativity)
.....................All woman names ¿coincidence or causality? (Casualidad o causualidad)

reply

reply

she's Catalan actually so not exactly Spanish......!!!

reply

Then why does she speak Spanish in the movie? I'd understood the Catalan people would rather speak french, italian or english than spanish. Has that changed?

reply

Im from Barcelona. Everybody here(at least, everybody that lives here for many years) knows speak Spanish and Catalan. In the school ALL subjects are in Catalan (except for Spanish, English, Italian... classes). I speak Catalan with all my friends, but at home I speak Spanish, 'cause my family is not from Catalonia, they are from Bask country. But I have friends that only speak catalan at school, and friends that speak catalan at school, with friends, with the family... it depens of the person/family. Catalan and spanish are the official lenguages of Catalonia (and other autonomous regions).
Se tiene algo de rivalidad con el resto de España...

k lio me e hecho...XDXD

reply

Yes. I already know all that. What I was saying is that faced with a tourist or foreigner, I understood that many or most people who identified themselves as Catalan would prefer to speak another of the languages at their disposal. Now, if that's not true, that's fine, and good information. But saying that manyh people are capable of speaking Catalan and Spanish is completely missing the point.

reply

What are you talking about????

She's Catalan, from Catalonia, autonomous region (as the other regions in Spain) of Spain...so, no discussion about that, she is EXACTLY Spanish.

reply

Sí es española.Cataluña es una región de España.

Sexy, beautiful AND hot? Yes, indeed! If you want to see more of her, try a google image search of "Cristina Brondo" there are some nice images of the pretty lady out there. Actually, the film was graced with some very attractive women in addition to "Soledad"; Judith Godreche, Cecile de France, Kelly Reilly and of course, Audrey Tautou. But, I think that the sexiest lady in L'auberge espagnol, IMHO, goes to Paulina Galvez for her brief (yet powerful) appearance as Isabelle's flamenco teacher. She's so hot it burns! Anyone else agree?

reply

She is very cute, but I think Spanish actress Paz Vega is really beautiful! (And I'm a STRAIGHT girl from New York...)

Yep if you happen to like latin girls (like I do) you have to agree that Soledad is indeed beautiful. And she is also very Catalan. These girls have something special.. speedy and dynamic, an explosive temperament but at the same time very feminine, muy suave... I especially LOVE the part when she says "Je t'aime mon amourrr" with the sweetest accent to tease Xavier.. mmm.. lovely.

But I think you all forgot to mention the short appearance of Irene Montala.. which is really the hottest girl in the movie! Very sexy.. she appears in the last scene in Barcelona where she seems to be the perfect girl for Xavier (and for me!) when he sees that she speaks french and that she's going to Paris in the next year.. Wow! apparently she's credited in "Les poupees Russes" as well so I can't wait to see that sequel just to see her again!

reply

Actually...it's WENDY, the English girl, who teases Xavier with "Je t'adore, Mon Amour..."

See it again!

reply

The both do, in different scenes!

reply

"Soledad" is not Latin. She's from Spain!

reply

'"Soledad" is not Latin. She's from Spain!'

Spanish people, like portuguese, french and italian are latin...
God, you're american, aren't you?

reply

Of course!!! The spanish accent make her really hot in the movie, dont you think?

reply

Go rent the movie "Hypnos" (Spanisch movie from I believe 2004).
Then you'll find out Cristina Brondo can also act. And you'll think of her as way more hot than in L'auberge espagnol.

"Fine I'll build my own theme park with black jack and hookers..."

reply

yeah she was very beautiful
