I think that director couldn't make a choice between the happy and the sad ending so he put them both in the movie! You can chose any of them to end your movie. ( Guess that doesn't help much...)

I am going with the last ending of Jane and Valentin sailing off together. It was quite difficult to keep track of which were dreams, premonitions and actual reality. There were just too many stories intermingling. Overall, the music was exquisite and and the story was compelling, but not an easy one to keep track of.

I love Mr. Darcy. > so do I

Yes he imagines the whole bit in the end while he's recovering from the op, all about giving the jewels back and seeing the boat off and going into her club and playing the saxaphone, she finds the real thief, he has the op he comes round and they go off on the boat together, it was an unusual film, very cool.

course with his state of mind he could not have robbed anyone or met anyone and it could all be an illusion.

I liked the ending even though it was a bit confusing. My mum didn't get what the end was about, maybe cos she fell asleep, maybe cos she is not a romantic like moi.

It was a strange little film, but carefully crafted, and well done. I rented it because I'm a Jeremy Irons fan, and he didn't let me down. Claudia Cardinale was a hoot!!!! I didn't realize she had aged so much.

i got the impression his girl was hooking up with his mate, who went sailing just to impress her.

Valentin gets his shot with his new flame, but are we to believe she got her miracle?

My take is all the cut scenes of him repaying people and him and his girlfriend seeing off Thierry at the boat race was all a dream while he was in a coma. Just like in a previous scene where he was dreaming that he was the detective and repaying the employer at Bulgari for a previous heist because he wanted to make things right, the scenes of him embracing his girlfriend is a dream where he wishes to make things right with her and still remain a couple. I take that Jane is there because he isn't able to juggle both so when he wakes up he chooses her so that he could actually be the honest person he wanted to be in his dreams.

Also whether Jane still suffers from amnesia could be openly interpreted. Originally, both Jane and Valentin were going to Lalla Chafia's grave together. Since Jane's wish to find the real jewel theif came true, I can only assume Valentin took the trip in between waking from the operation and them sailing off to see Lalla Chafia as a way to repay Jane and to wish for her to be cured.
